Derrick Solano
I’m Derrick Solano, an artist and author who wears my scars like a crown. My music and writing are unapologetically real, a reflection of my life’s hardest battles—being abandoned at two years old, enduring years of abuse, losing my son, and fighting addiction. Yet through it all, I rose. My debut single, I Won’t Break, and my memoir of the same name, tell the story of survival, resilience, and defiance against a world that tried to crush me. I sing and write for those who’ve felt lost, broken, and misunderstood. Together, we rise.
Music and Words That Speak to the Unheard
I don’t make music for the mainstream. My songs and stories are for the fighters, the rebels, and the survivors. With my husband Anthony by my side and a family we’ve built from love, I channel my pain, triumphs, and everything in between into every note and lyric. If you’ve ever been told you’re not enough, I’m here to tell you—you are. This is just the beginning, and I’m only getting louder. Explore my music, dive into my story, and join me in a journey where we refuse to break.
From Rock Bottom to Rising Again
My journey through music started with raw emotion, anthems born from scars that refuse to heal. I Won’t Break was my declaration of survival, a fierce stand against the trauma that tried to crush me. Ghosts Don’t Fade followed, haunting and relentless, a reminder that no matter how broken I’ve been, I rise. Then came Fallen, but still Rising, a reflection of my ongoing battle with the demons that still lurk but will never defeat me. Each track tells a piece of my story, scars turned into power.
Why I Wrote "Fade in the Dark"
I wrote "Fade in the Dark" from a place of survival, for those of us who’ve been pushed aside but refuse to disappear. This track channels my own battles—the times I was silenced, erased, told I wouldn’t make it—and turns that into fuel for resilience. The haunting synths and deep beats are a reminder that even in the shadows, there’s a pulse that never stops. It’s a song for everyone who fights to reclaim their voice, no matter how dark it gets.
